MeitY, Government Of India introduced its new app in the Productivity category named UMANG and The app has 10,000,000+ installs on google play store and is rated 4.4 by more than 66,200 users. In-app content has a rating for 3+. You can download this app directly from here or from Google play store, It requires minimum Android version 4.4 to run, and the current version of the app is 1.2.8. The application takes a small size of 19 MB to download.

What is UMANG App

Mobile app Umang (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Government Services) is an all-in-one single unified multi-service mobile app of Government of India for citizens to access an array of online government services – central and state. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, E-governance focused Umang app is available in multiple Indian languages, other than English, over Android, iOS, Windows. The app was launched to encourage an increasing number of people to adopt digital transactions in the country.

Services you can access using UMANG App

Umang app allows subscribers to access a wide range of services by both state and central governments, including DigiLocker, Bharat Bill Payment System, Aadhaar, birth certificates, e-District, passport, PAN, EPFO services, pension-related services, utility bill payment, tax payment, among others. For example, with the help of Umang, subscribers can access their EPF (Employee Provident Fund) related services: the users can raise claims, check the status of the claim, search establishment and get the address of EPF.

Students can even see their exam results and locate exam centers of their CBSE board and other competitive exams.

How to download UMANG App

The Umang app can be downloaded on smartphones, tablets, and desktops and runs on Android and iOS. To download Umang on your Android device, go to Google Play Store and type ‘Umang’. Apple users can download the Umang app from the Apple App Store. You can also download the Umang app by scanning QR Code on the Umang website or receiving SMS from the Umang website.

How to register on UMANG App using a mobile number

Here is a step by step guide to register with the Umang app using your mobile number:

Step 1: Download the Umang app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store
Step 2: Open the app and choose the language of your preference
Step 3: Click on new user
Step 4: Enter your mobile number for verification and click ‘Next’
Step 5: Enter 6-digit OTP (One Time Password) sent to your mobile number to set your UMANG account MPIN
Step 6: Enter your MPIN and confirm the same and click ‘Next’
Step 7: You can also provide an alternate mobile number, Email, or security question to help you recover your MPIN if you forget your MPIN
Step 8: Enter your basic information
Step 9: Enter your Aadhaar number, and if you don’t want to link your Aadhaar, you can click ‘Skip’

Now your registration is complete and you can browse through the services and categories.

How to login on UMANG app

You can log in to Umang app in several ways as follows:

Login with OTP (one-time-password): You can log in to Umang with OTP if you have not set your MPIN. Enter your mobile number and click ‘Continue’ to receive the OTP. Enter the OTP sent to your mobile number.
Login with MPIN: You can log in to Umang with a registered mobile number with MPIN.
If you have linked your social media accounts with Umang, you can log in using your Facebook, Google+ or Twitter credentials.

Services available on UMANG App

Employee’s Provident Fund Services: By using the Umang app, you can access the details of the deposits made towards your EPF during your employment. To access EPF services, you need to have an active UAN (Universal Account Number), and your mobile number should be registered with EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organization).
DigiLocker Account: DigiLocker is a cloud-based secure government platform that allows consumers to store and access an electronic version of their documents, such as Aadhaar card.
Tax payment: Umang app enables users to make a payment towards income tax. Consumers can use Challan 280 or even check the status of their income tax application using Umang.
Passport Seva: Customers can use the Umang app to access various passport related services such as tracking the status of your passport application, calculating the payment, locating the nearest passport center, checking the availability of appointment.
LPG services: You can use the Umang app to book cylinders, surrender connections, requests for refills, mechanic help, etc. from Bharat Gas, HP Gas, and Indene Gas.
Pension: All pensioners can avail pension-related services such as the pension application process, grievances, and other retirement benefits offered by the Department of Pension & Pensioner’s Welfare, through the pension portal on Umang app.
CBSE board and competitive exams: Users can view their CBSE results and check their exam centers for competitive exams using the Umang app.
Corp insurance: Farmers can calculate their insurance premium and total sum insured for their products as per the various schemes by the government of India.
Digi Seva: You can use this platform to create your job profile, search jobs, and send job application for jobs posted by governments.
Jeevan Pramaan: This platform allows pensioners to generate and view Life Certificates using USB OTG mobile phone connected to an external biometric device.
